This highly sensitive instrument is capable of quantitatively determining almost all elements in the periodic table that have an ionization potential lower than that of argon at very low concentrations (ppm, ppb). It is based on the coupling of a method for generating ions (inductively coupled plasma) and a method for separating and detecting these ions (mass spectrometer).

It is used for mineral profile analysis, especially for heavy metals. The equipment is equipped with an HPLC system for arsenic speciation.

Observations

In the case of using HPLC combined with ICP-MS for arsenic speciation, the user must provide the specific column for sample measurement.

Financing

The equipment has been acquired thanks to an action co-financed by the European Union through the Operational Programme of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities (State Research Agency) (PROJECT: EQC2018-004170P).
