Coordination of the Bathrobe Washing Service

The Miguel Hernández University of Elche has contracted a “Textile Rental Service for the provision, washing and repair or replacement of laboratory coats for the staff of the Miguel Hernández University of Elche”, Expte. 2022_031.

This service is aimed at University staff (PDI, PI and PAS) who work in laboratories and are  exposed to hazardous chemical agents, and/or biological agents .
The service consists of the following parts:
  • Provision of laboratory coats to users.
    • Each user enrolled in this service will be provided with two gowns, each with a unique coding system. ( For example: E11-001 )
  • Washing, decontamination, drying and ironing service for gowns.
    • In order to guarantee the elimination of chemical products and the disinfection of possible contaminating biological agents.
  • Repair service or, where applicable, replacement of damaged gowns.
    • Repair of gowns in case of damage, or replacement in case they prevent the correct use for which they are intended.
  • IMPORTANT:
    • The gowns are intended for work involving exposure to chemical and biological risks that require proper washing and decontamination.
    • The gowns are equipped with a chip that allows their identification, in addition to the gown’s identification code for easy recognition by the user.
    • Each user is assigned a lab coat code so that they always use the same ones and have control over the conditions to which they have been subjected.
    • This service is only for lab coats supplied by the company (with chip and code). Washing of other personal lab coats or those kept in the laboratory is not permitted.
Six collection and delivery points for gowns have been established on the different UMH campuses where work is carried out with exposure to chemical and/or biological risks:
  • Elche Campus:
    • Ed. Altabix, room E11P0013 (next to computer room 0.2)
    • Ed. Torregaitan, room E10P2013 (warehouse floor 2)
    • Ed. Vinalopó, room E13P0073 (next to the concierge)
  • Sant Joan d’Alacant Campus:
    • Ed. Muhammad Al-Shafra, room S02S1067 (next to autoclave)
    • Ed. Ramón y Cajal, room S08S1006 (basement vestibule)
  • Orihuela Campus:
    • Ed. Tudemir, room O12P1030 (warehouse floor 1)
The collection/delivery of gowns will be done weekly, and it will be up to the users whether or not to wash the gowns.
  • In this way, once a week the gowns will be removed for washing and those that were removed the previous week will be returned.
  • The provision of two gowns allows one to be used while the other is being washed.
  • The collection of the washed gown will always take place at the point indicated for each user.
  • The code on the lab coat identifies the building where the washed lab coat will be collected. ( For example, E11 indicates that the collection building is Ed. Albatix on the Elche campus ).
