Healthy walks Orihuela 2026

Spring healthy walk (March)

This new edition of the Healthy Walks in Orihuela took place back in March, just as spring was beginning. On this occasion, the route started next to the campus library and led the group to the banks of the Segura River, where participants were able to learn first-hand about the actions being carried out within the “Reflow my RIVER” project, an initiative focused on the environmental restoration of this natural area.

During the walk, SATDI staff observed the work being done to remove invasive vegetation, the actions aimed at restoring native species, and the improvements being made to the local riverside groves. In addition, Adrián Martínez explained some of the interventions currently being carried out as part of the project. Meanwhile, Javier Vives shared interesting facts about the traditional use of reeds in the traditional market gardens of Orihuela.

The activity continued to the riverside grove near the university, a natural area highly appreciated by local residents, where the group enjoyed the landscape and the friendly atmosphere that characterises these gatherings.

As is often the case after each walk, the day ended with new ideas and proposals for future healthy routes, consolidating this initiative as a highly valued activity among the service staff.
