Critical point drying system primarily designed for preparing biological samples for electron microscopy. Drying samples at the critical point prevents damage caused by water’s surface tension. CO₂, whose critical point is around 31°C and 74 bar, is used to transition from liquid to gas without surface tension effects; therefore, the system includes a CO₂ probe . |
