Last Tuesday, June 4, a training course began for the Technical Personnel, Management and Administration and Services Service (PTGAS) of the Miguel Hernández University of Elche. The course in question is called “Microbiology: basic techniques in the Parasitology laboratory”. The training is being taught by our colleague Luis Navarro, who in turn is supported by Lucrecia Acosta and Fernando Borna. This teaching continues to be held this week at the Sant Joan d’Alacant Campus (Tuesday the 11th and Thursday the 13th) and a total of 30 participants have registered.

The objective of the course is to introduce the most common groups of human parasites and their implication in health, as well as the acquisition of the necessary skills to identify the genera and species of most prevalent human parasites, manage the basic techniques used in a laboratory for the active search for parasites, develop a work strategy, as well as diagnose the presence of parasites in various feces and blood samples of human origin.

The profile of those attending this course is focused on laboratory technicians or any other UMH personnel interested in knowledge of the most common species of parasitic microorganisms, their importance in public health and their morphological identification. Through master classes, practical laboratory classes and teaching innovation tools, e-learning; Attendees will complete training of a total of 15 hours over four days of training which, together with passing the activities proposed in the course and/or the corresponding evaluation, will lead them to obtaining a certificate of achievement.
